It was this time last year - Me Made May - that I decided to get over my fear of being on video.
If you follow me on Instagram @make_something, you've watched me learn in real time: how to shoot video, how to talk to a camera, how to edit. It's been awkward and humbling in equal measure. I went to school for Photography (Media Arts at TMU), so I'm deeply comfortable behind a still camera, but crossing over into video has been a whole different thing.
But it helped me feel ready to tackle virtual workshops, which I've only been doing for less than a year. Learning in public is hard. Having a community that cheers you on - even when your computer dies mid-class or two cameras freeze at once - totally makes it possible.
All of this is to say: we're officially in our video era now.
I love teaching and sharing my process, and I want to do more of it on YouTube - behind-the-scenes vlogs, tutorials, and a closer look at life here at the workroom in Sprucedale. Flower Branch Embroidery Quilt Kits Shipping! It's been a big week of cutting all the yardage and batting for the Flower Branch Quilt Kits. This is the first time we've brought in premade fat quarter bundles and I'm so thankful to have these pre-folded Chambray stacks ready to grab and pack up with the other pieces of these fun kits. We received a couple deliveries yesterday of all the extra notions and tools. Every surface of the second floor of the shop is covered with kits and orders organized with all the components, ready to be double checked and boxed up over the next few days.
It's not too late to join us for this fun community sew along. There is one final Quilt Kit available and a couple Chambray bundles - or deep dive into your stash for a fun custom version.
