Fern quilted her Double Time Quilt on the longarm this week

Team workroom is heading to Barrie tomorrow for the Fibre Spirit Show at the Barrie Curling Club, 10am-4pm. I'll be packing up the car with as many bundles, Sashiko supplies, embroidery kits, books, patterns, notions and buttons to fill our booth. If you're heading to the show and wanted something specific from the shop, you can place your order for local pick up in Barrie by leaving a note with your online order until 2pm today. Don't forget this means that both the Sprucedale shop and Parkdale Pick up Point are closed, as Alexis and I will be at the show.
This week Fern quilted her Double Time quilt on our Bernina Q24 longarm and she did such an amazing job. The Double Time was Fern's first quilt and her second quilt that she long armed. It's all so inspiring! You can see some more detailed photos here. You're going to want to zoom in close to see every bit of this beautiful patchwork project. Fern paired up with community member, Nadia to share fabric and they truly curated the cutest prints together. Our Double Time Quilt workshop starts Thursday September 10th if you want to make your own version of this project - it comes straight out of our Handmade Getaway book. This project is a fun way to dig into your stash and really highlight all your favourite fabrics. Even better if you grab a friend and share fabrics for Double the fun! DEAR GEMINI : Magnetic Pin Dishes Forever workroom team member, Debbie aka Dear Gemini dropped off some special handmade treasures to us this week.
"My daughter adores bubbles, painting, and crafts. And one day while we were outside blowing bubbles it struck me- we could make something really great and have so much fun while doing it." The first collaborative offering from Dear Gemini is their Maggie & Me collection: hand poured trinket dishes and magnetic pin dishes, covered in hand blown bubbles. Quantities are limited, if we have any left tomorrow, we'll bring them with us to the Fibre Spirit Show, so you can see them in person.
THE BUTTON DEPT. : Jacquard Buttons I was looking for a Button Match this week to go with the Blue Pop Jacquard from Merchant & Mills when I discovered these cute buttons that have such a similar colour and texture to the cotton Jacquards. We actually found three colours of this style and each one matches a current or past Jacquard colour - Viridian, Blue Pop and Charcoal. The Workwear Chore Jacket Community Sew Along starts this Monday August 31st. If you're interested in learning to sew this pattern - this is a relaxed way to join us for six bi-weekly zoom check ins that include sewing demos and lots of time for sharing your ideas, challenges and tips with the group. Just like our regular virtual workshops - the video replays will be available for every session along with detailed notes that make these resources invaluable. You can also use the community feed to post your progress and ask questions at any time. Based on the last few community sew alongs, we're looking forward to all the fun ideas and learnings everyone will be sharing with the group.
