A very fun combination of fabric goodness from Merchant & Mills
Hello Reader!
Thank you everyone for your help celebrating our anniversary last week. We are wading through orders currently (a lovely problem to have!) - toggling between wrapping up all the Merchant & Mills preorders and getting going on the anniversary sale orders. We appreciate your patience as this volume of orders with cut fabric simply takes a lot of time.
This weekend we are hosting our final Handmade Getaway for 2026. Almost half the group arrived yesterday for the early arrival option - they got set up and jumped right into their projects in the studio for the afternoon before heading to Santosha for dinner and a good night's sleep. I can't wait to see what wonderful things they will create - so far we have a jacket theme going - A Jacquard Nova Coat, A Sanda Coat and a Quilted Denim Workwear Chore Jacket! Stay tuned for some photos after the weekend, they've barely gotten started!

Classroom/Sew By The Hour set up October 2007 - Our first machines were used Huskvarnas that I bought from a local sewing repair shop.
Our dear friend Lizzy House designed an incredible Advent Calendar experience housed inside a stunning keepsake quilt shop cabinet with 24 numbered drawers, each day reveals a new collectible treasure designed to delight makers and Lizzy House fans alike.
This isn't a curated advent calendar filled with existing products - every item has been created specifically for this project, making it a truly unique holiday experience.
If you saw this Preorder with Pink Door Fabrics, the international shipping was quite high which definitely stopped many Lizzy fans from adding this to cart. There are a few left and we've been really lucky to be offered a special opportunity to get them to you. We're looking into doing a bulk order to Canada to decrease the shipping cost but need to know how many folks would be truly interested.

LIBERTY OF LONDON : EMILY BELLE Emily Belle is here and it's definitely even nice in person. These tonal florals are going to be lovely for so many things. We've got ten colours to start but we may have to look at adding a few more colours to our mix. Emily Belle is a celebration of botanicals including daisies, marguerites, peonies, and cornflowers. Drawn in an outline and arranged over a plain coloured ground, the soft, fine lines and delicate tonal qualities are designed to coordinate smoothly with a wide variety of Liberty prints from their vast archive – for a seamless mix-and-match effect.
MERCHANT & MILLS : Heading Your Way! All these preorders will be packed up over the weekend. I'm always extra slow with cutting and organizing these orders, as often times folks have multiple orders combining yardage when they realize they might need a bit more. Amounts are checked triple time so this precious fabric is cut accurately as well. I'm always inspired to see everything in person and I've done a video tour of the delivery for you on YouTube! A few of these will be jumping into my sewing plans for the Fall.
PREORDER! Books + More We're partway through the Workwear Chore Jacket Sew Along and we've had a few folks sign up late (always a good idea). We've got more copies of the book heading our way, along with a restock on a few great Sashiko books. Local designer & author Arounna has a brand new book out on Botanical Embroidery and we could not resist stocking up on her full collection of crafty books.
Audrey Hood in Viridian Green Jacquard + Petite Garden Lawn
VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS and EVENTS We've made some fun projects this month in our online workshops, the Merchant & Mills Audrey Hood was a really satisfying project and it just uses about a half metre - perfect if you've got some Jacquard scraps. I've made two so far and more are on the way. The Cielo Top wrapped up last night, wait until you see my neon yellow version with drama sleeves. Joa Gilet class on Tuesday was really inspiring - we all had so many fun ideas on how this project could become an opportunity to experiment with different techniques like appliqué, patchwork, saskiko and quilting.
