It's happening! The response to this project has blown me away.
When I first shared the Flower Branch Embroidery Quilt, I had a feeling it would resonate, it's one of those quilts that stops you in your tracks. But the excitement from this community has been something else, and it's pushed us to build something extra special around it.
Here's the thing. The pattern is a free download - you can grab your copy now. When I looked over the instructions - I just knew there had to be a better way than cutting every square on it's own. Our method is radically different and incredibly efficient. We've mapped every single one of the 2,268 squares across all nine units. We found the colour adjacencies, worked out the strip sets, eliminated every individual cut we could and what we built is the workroom Notes for the Flower Branch Embroidery Quilt. An efficiency guide that reorganizes the entire project.
The sewing for this project is simple patchwork. Even if you've never made a quilt before you can totally make this quilt. The key is in the organization. You want a fabric prep checklist? A swatch card if you're making your own version? A quick start guide for Unit 1? We have all that set up for you and more.
the workroom Notes are included with every sew-along registration as a PDF and here's something we're really excited about. If we reach 75 registered quilters, we'll print and include a proper paper booklet edition for every participant with their kits. (mailing fee applies if bought separately) We think this community can get us there. Fingers crossed we blow right past our goal.
The Community Sew-Along will start on June 8th and we'll meet for four Monday evening Zoom sessions over nine weeks, you'll have a PDF copy of the workroom Notes to give you everything you need to make this quilt smarter, and access to our online Community Sew Along space where you can watch the video replays, post your progress and questions alongside a a community of people making this pixel quilt with you.

You do not need a kit to join our Sew Along! Make your own version. Shop your stash, go through your Kona Colour Society solids collection and get creative. Four Monday evening sessions over 8 weeks, the workroom Notes PDF included, and access to our community space for the full journey. All sessions recorded for replay.

The fat quarter bundle is a beautiful way to collect the full palette, and you'll find uses for every piece.

TOOLS & NOTIONS
The good news: this quilt is made from a single square size, which means your tool list is short and sweet.
The essentials are a rotary cutter, cutting mat, and quilting ruler. If you're choosing just one ruler for this project, a 6" x 24" is your best friend, it's the perfect length for cutting strips across the width of fabric/fat quarter, which is exactly how we work through the workroom Notes.
That's genuinely all you need to get started.
But if you're a quilter who loves a tool that makes the process smoother and faster - we see you, and we've got you.
The Stripology Squared ruler was practically made for a project like this. It's designed specifically for cutting multiple strips and sub-cuts quickly and accurately - exactly the method we use in the workroom Notes. Paired with the Violet Craft Seam Roller, (also perfect for the Weekender Bag project where we can't use an iron) you'll move through those strip sets with speed and confidence.
