It's going to be a really fun & beautiful weekend here in Sprucedale! We're hosting a special edition of our Handmade Getaway weekend with an extra optional day added at the beginning and end for those who wanted to maximize their making time in the studio and at Santosha Farms.
Most of our crew for the weekend arrived safely yesterday coming from as far away as British Columbia and Quebec. The second floor studio is already filled with more projects than any of us can do in the next four months let alone four days, but this seems like the right way to pack for a weekend of Fabric, Friends & Food. I'll be sure to document as many of the makes as possible. In the first couple hours, I saw a couple Double Time Quilt tops, a Sanda Jacket, a Factory Dress and a Pogonip Pullover.
Our late October Handmade Getaway sold out this week, but you can still add yourself to the waitlist in case we have a cancellation or if we're able to sneak in another getaway before the end of the year and there's enough interest.
This is the perfect weekend to visit our Historic General Store if you're in the Muskoka, Almaguin Highlands or Parry Sound area - since we're here all weekend we've extended our hours, including Sunday. MERCHANT & MILLS has arrived! Merchant & Mills landed in the shop on Tuesday. You can get a sneak peek at the unboxing in this reel. Many of these fabrics we got to go with our Chore Jacket Sew Along - like the Dark Wash Denim, Midnight Dry Oilskin and the Jade Denim. For the first time we ordered their 8 Wale Corduroy and it is really velvety and the colours are so rich. (so dark and rich, that it's actually hard to get accurate photos!) I've been working my way through cutting the pre-orders but it always takes longer than I hope it will. The next wave of orders will ship out right after the long weekend.
STUDIO SURPLUS : Home Dec Fabric Alexis rescued 50+ bolts of Designer Home Dec fabric last week from a local design studio and it landed in Sprucedale this week. We'll be working on photographing and cataloging them into the online shop bit by bit, but in the meantime they are a fun new reason to visit the shop in person.
I'll be posting photos for you over the next few weeks. I'm actually eyeing some of them for garments. While many are neutral greys, creams and whites (from pretty high end designers) - some of them are truly wild and wonderful. There is a limited quantity of these, so I'm sure many will get snapped up before we are able to post them.
