About that serger in your closet.

Hello Reader

A couple months ago we did a six week virtual Sewing Machine Essentials class. It was a real confidence booster for so many students who left the workshop better understanding their machine and more comfortable using it. If you missed it live, you can still join anytime to access all the videos, replays and resources.

It's time to do the same thing with your Serger! Join us for our first round of Serger Essentials - a mix of weekly prerecorded video lessons and a one hour Zoom call to answer questions and review the details together.

Good news! If you're already inside the Serger Essentials Club - you'll have access to this workshop and all the resources inside this space. Watch for the Zoom invites to pop up soon.

Ready to tackle both machines? The Sewing Machine Essentials + Serger Essentials bundle is just $360 for both. You'll get lifetime access to all the existing resources, replays and videos + all the new Zoom sessions and videos as well.

Members of the workroom studio save $25 off all virtual workshops and get free access to all our community sewalongs and challenges. We'd love to have you join our community.

If you've got questions about this class or your serger, just reply to this email and we can chat more about it!

Let's conquer your serger together,
Karyn

Virtual Workshops
Our recent Cassidy Jumpsuit students are starting to post their finished projects and they are looking so good! I shared a quick reel of my finished Plaid silk wool version here. I'm really happy with how this turned out and how all my pattern matching across the front and side seams lined up perfectly.

We're starting the Sanda Jacket & the Honey Dress next week.

  • Scout Shirt & Dress - Thursdays, June 18 - July 23 (In Session)
  • Honey Dress - Saturdays, July 11, 18 & 25 - beat the heat in a lightweight Honey Dress
  • Sanda Jacket - Tuesdays, July 7 - 28 - perfect project for that Jacquard you've been stashing!
  • Quinn Pants - Tuesdays, August 4 - 25
  • Serger Essentials - starts Tuesday September 1st for 6 weeks

the workroom studio members save $25 on every class.

JULY REPURPOSING CHALLENGE
Repurposing is this month's focus - taking something you already own and making it into something worth wearing or using again.

We'll meet three times over July and August. The sessions are open-ended by design - what we work on together will depend on what you bring and where you get stuck.

Session 1 · Monday July 6 · 7–8pm ET
Bring an item or two you want to repurpose and your ideas for it. A pair of jeans you no longer wear, a dress shirt that doesn't fit, a sweatshirt you're ready to rework. We'll look at what everyone's working with, talk through approaches, and help each other figure out where to start.

Session 2 · Monday July 20 · 7–8pm ET
Progress check. Bring what you've started - questions, problems, and wins welcome.

Session 3 · Monday August 17 · 7–8pm ET
Final session. Share what you've made, what you discovered and what you'd like to try next

The gap between sessions is intentional - allowing time to actually do the work.

the workroom studio members join free. Not a member? You can sign up for this challenge separately for $25.

THE BUTTON DEPT.
We've been digging into our button boxes and posting a few new buttons each week to the online shop. It could truly be someone's full time job to organize and catalog this vast button collection we've got. In particular, we've found the small section of metal buttons we've got that we think could be perfect for some of your Merchant & Mills Workwear projects.
